Harmful use

The ICD-10 category harmful use has a more specific meaning: substance use must have caused actual damage to physical or mental health. Examples include hepatitis associated with injecting drugs or episodes of depression resulting from heavy alcohol consumption. Other people's disapproval, arguments or an arrest do not by themselves establish this health damage.
