Revise: Circular Motion VelocitySince the velocity changes as the object turns, an object in uniform circular motion is accelerating even though its speed remains constant.
Specification P2.2q · Paper 1 (Foundation), Paper 3 (Higher)
Motion along a circular path at a constant speed.
Revise: Circular motionImagine a car travelling around a circular track while its speedometer stays at the same reading. It covers equal distances in equal times, so its speed is constant. This is called uniform circular motion.
Paper 1, Paper 2
Motion along a circular path at constant speed, although the direction of motion and therefore the velocity continually change.
Revise: Circular Motion, Moments, Levers and GearsFor uniform circular motion, the resultant force is directed inwards, towards the centre of the circle, and is perpendicular to the instantaneous direction of motion. It changes the direction of the velocity rather than its magnitude.
