Revise: GravityWeight is measured with a calibrated spring balance, also called a newtonmeter. Hanging an object from the instrument makes its weight stretch the spring. The calibrated scale converts that stretch into a reading in newtons.

Weight can be measured using a newtonmeter, also called a calibrated spring balance. The object is attached to the instrument, and its weight stretches a spring. The scale is calibrated so that the spring's extension gives the force directly in newtons.
