An instrument that compares gas pressure with another pressure by using the difference between liquid levels.

Revise: Particle motion and pressureCooling or placing the balloon in a freezer makes the molecules move more slowly, and the balloon can shrink. Its changing size is visible evidence of the gas responding, but the flexible volume means it is not as direct a pressure measurement as a rigid vessel and manometer.
A changing balloon size is indirect evidence because its volume can change. A manometer connected to a rigid closed container gives clearer evidence of a pressure difference.
