Revise: Scientific Theories and Peer ReviewMeasurements and observations provide evidence, but a collection of results is not automatically an explanation. Scientists must identify patterns, think creatively about what might produce them and propose a testable hypothesis. Evidence and explanation are therefore separate: scientists can sometimes interpret the same data in different ways or propose competing explanations.
