Revise: Principles of Wave Detection and Echo SoundingEcho sounding uses high-frequency sound waves sent down into deep water from a vessel. Sound reflected by an underwater object or the seabed returns to a detector. An echo from an object reveals that something is beneath the vessel; an echo from the seabed can be used to measure water depth.
