Revise: Visible lightA rough surface, such as paper, produces diffuse reflection: its tiny uneven parts reflect rays in different directions. The light is still reflected, but it is scattered rather than kept in an ordered set of rays. That is why you can see a sheet of paper without seeing a mirror-like image in it.
