Definition

An unbroken range of wavelengths and frequencies, rather than radiation at only a few separate values.

A hot body can emit a continuous spectrum of electromagnetic radiation. This means that its emission is spread across an unbroken range of wavelengths, frequencies and energy values rather than being restricted to one wavelength.
