Revise: Emission and absorption of infrared radiationAll bodies—meaning all objects—emit and absorb infrared radiation, whatever their temperature. Emission means that an object gives out energy as infrared radiation. Absorption means that it takes in energy from infrared radiation falling on it.
Write that all bodies emit and absorb infrared radiation, not just hot or glowing objects.
For a perfect black body, state all three outcomes: it absorbs all incident radiation, reflects none and transmits none.
Do not suggest that a perfect black body only absorbs radiation: a good absorber is also a good emitter, so it is the best possible emitter.
