The main airway, also called the windpipe, which carries air towards the bronchi.
Revise: Respiratory System Structure and FunctionAir then travels down the trachea, or windpipe. Rings of cartilage keep this airway open. The trachea divides into two bronchi, with one leading into each lung.
Give the structures in the correct order: mouth/nose → trachea → bronchi → bronchioles → alveoli.
Do not confuse bronchi with bronchioles: the bronchi branch directly from the trachea; the smaller bronchioles branch from the bronchi.
Give the air pathway in order: mouth or nose → trachea → bronchi → bronchioles → alveoli.
