Pun

The main headline, ‘Faulty Powers’, is a pun on the title of the 1970s sitcom Fawlty Towers. It connects faulty electricity supplies with the idea of those in power managing events badly. The reference does more than make the headline memorable: it imports the sitcom’s associations of incompetence and disorder into the news story.
