A straight line drawn by eye to represent the overall trend of points on a scatter diagram.
Revise: Scatter GraphsWhen a scatter diagram shows an approximately straight upward or downward trend, a line of best fit can summarise it. OCR expects this line to be drawn by eye, so there is not necessarily one uniquely correct position.
Draw a line of best fit through the main trend, with roughly as many points above it as below it. Do not force it through the origin or an outlier.
Show construction lines when reading a prediction from a line of best fit, and remember that the answer is an estimate.
