Revise: Viking life in JorvikEarly Viking buildings at Coppergate were single-storey properties, typically about 7 metres long and 5 metres wide. They had wattle walls, made from woven branches, thatched roofs and floors of trampled earth. A large central hearth dominated the interior, providing a place for heating and cooking.
