Used by OCR
Paper 1
Revise: Attitudes towards migrantsUnofficial responses were the attitudes and actions of people outside government, from neighbours offering goodwill to crowds attacking migrants. These were connected: complaints from traders could lead to official restrictions, while royal privileges could provoke resentment.
Distinguish official actions, such as taxation and royal grants, from unofficial responses, such as neighbours’ goodwill or attacks by crowds. Explain how public pressure could influence government policy.
