Strait

In 1520, Magellan navigated the passage now called the Strait of Magellan, near the southern end of South America. Three ships entered the Pacific on 28 November 1520. Finding the strait established that an Atlantic-to-Pacific sea route existed, although its currents, storms and difficult waters made it dangerous.
