Revise: The Iron CurtainBy 1948, several Eastern European countries had become satellite states. They retained their own governments, but those governments were heavily influenced by the Soviet Union. Churchill’s description of an ‘Iron Curtain’ expressed the growing division between this Soviet-dominated East and the West.
