Paper 3
Revise: The People’s CrusadeThe People’s Crusade was an early movement within the First Crusade. Its followers intended to reach Jerusalem and help bring the Holy Land under Christian control. However, most never reached their destination: their expedition ended in defeat in Asia Minor in October 1096.
Do not describe the People’s Crusade as entirely unarmed peasants: it also included some knights, alongside women and children.
Distinguish the defeat of the People’s Crusade in October 1096 from the later success of the main First Crusade.
