An overland migration route used by settlers travelling towards Oregon, crossing the Rocky Mountains through South Pass.
Revise: Early Settlers and ChallengesThe Oregon Trail, passing through the mountains at South Pass, helped make wagon migration possible. Fur trappers helped establish the route, and covered wagons were using it by 1836. During the 1840s, large groups travelled west together.
