Revise: Militant labourMilitant labour meant workers prepared to take determined industrial action to secure their demands. A strike withheld the labour on which an employer depended, making it costly to leave a dispute unresolved. Militancy did not necessarily mean violence or revolution: workers could take forceful action to pursue improvements within the existing system.
