Revise: Ships and tradeViking ships were clinker-built: the edges of neighbouring wooden planks overlapped. These overlaps helped strengthen the hull along its length. This allowed the internal frames supporting the hull to be spaced further apart, reducing the amount of timber needed without sacrificing strength.
