Revise: Women’s livesDomestic service was the largest category of women’s employment. The 1901 census recorded about 1.69 million female workers aged ten and above in domestic services. Clothing and textile work were also major employers, with approximately 711,000 in dress-related occupations and 663,000 in textiles.
