Revise: Consequences of Plague and Changes in Public HealthEstimates suggest that Norwich may have had as many as 25,000 inhabitants in 1348, while as few as 6,000 were still living there twenty years later. These figures show the possible scale of depopulation, but the later total reflects departures and subsequent changes as well as deaths in the first outbreak. It should not be treated as an exact death toll for 1349.
