Revise: Court and administrationIn 1580, a new system, the dahsala, was introduced. Associated with the revenue administrator Raja Todar Mal, it used the average produce of the previous ten years to calculate the state’s demand, normally one-third of that average, payable in cash. Local prices were taken into account, and areas with similar productivity were grouped for assessment.
