Revise: Local and National Historical Sources for WhitechapelCoroners’ reports concern the causes and circumstances of deaths. They are particularly relevant to suspicious or violent deaths, including the Jack the Ripper murders of 1888. They offer a different perspective from a police file: their central concern is establishing how a person died, rather than recording every aspect of the search for an offender.
