Revise: Cleopatra's Accession and the Ptolemaic Civil WarAfter Ptolemy XIII’s death, Cleopatra’s younger brother Ptolemy XIV became her co-ruler. The contrast with Ptolemy XIII is important: XIII had fought to exclude her, whereas XIV occupied the position of a younger royal partner after her victory. Sharing royal status did not necessarily mean sharing effective power equally.
