Revise: CrisisThe Bills of Mortality recorded burials and reported causes of death parish by parish, week by week. They allow historians to trace the epidemic’s spread and changing severity. They also served as an early warning system: the King and Lord Mayor saw the figures before the public and could act to shut infected houses.
