Baby boomer

The baby boomers, born just after the Second World War, were reaching their teenage years and young adulthood. Their numbers helped make young people an important audience for businesses selling clothes and music. Youth became increasingly recognisable as a stage of life with its own tastes, rather than simply preparation for adulthood.
