Revise: Capture of AntiochChristians were also killed in the confusion. This was not simply fighting between armed opponents: the capture involved atrocities against the city’s inhabitants. Many crusaders then seized booty from the lower city.
When discussing atrocities, include the killing of non-combatants and Christians as well as Muslims. Religious identity did not protect everyone during the massacre.
