Revise: Motives and Political Context of the InvasionThe Atrebates, in central southern Britain, developed particularly strong trading and political relationships with Rome. At Silchester, imported wine, olive oil and other products demonstrate these contacts. Such relationships gave Rome an interest in the survival of friendly rulers, although trade alone did not mean that Britain was already a Roman province.
