Revise: UK Physical LandscapesThe UK's uplands are concentrated mainly in the north and west. They occur in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and northern England. These landscapes are often mountainous or hilly, with steep slopes and rugged ground.

Describe a distribution using a general pattern, then support it with named places: for example, uplands are mainly in the north and west, including the Grampian Mountains in Scotland.
Upland, lowland and glaciated are not three mutually exclusive categories: an upland landscape can also be glaciated.
Link a characteristic to its effect on the landscape: for example, resistant rock helps explain rugged upland relief, while grazing helps explain open hillsides and field boundaries.

Examples include the Scottish Highlands and Grampian Mountains, the Lake District in north-west England, and Snowdonia in North Wales.
