Specification 2.2.4 · Paper 2
Revise: Global UrbanisationA city is a large, densely populated urban settlement, with homes, workplaces and services such as shops, schools and hospitals. Urban areas include towns as well as cities. Compared with rural areas, they generally have more closely packed buildings and people, and more employment in offices, factories and services.
Describe a distribution using an overall pattern, named examples and exceptions, rather than just listing cities.
Megacity describes population size; world city describes global influence. A city can be both.
