Component 1

A film or genre that combines conventions from different genres, such as horror, comedy and the teen film.
The Lost Boys is a genre hybrid: it combines vampire horror with comedy and the teen film. The teen-film elements include sibling relationships, romance, peer pressure, popular music and the desire for independence. Horror gives these ordinary concerns dangerous consequences.
