Definition

The use of similar grammatical patterns in related phrases or clauses, which can emphasise a connection, balance or contrast.

Paper 1

The parallel construction ‘All my confidence is bestowed on him, all his confidence is devoted to me’ makes the sentence itself enact an exchange. Each partner receives the trust that the other gives. This is a more precise argument than saying that the repetition simply emphasises love.
