Revise: The narrator's brother and the ElphinstonesThe brother provides a second narrative viewpoint, but readers do not receive a separate first-person narrative written by him. The main narrator reconstructs his account, repeatedly using phrases such as “my brother said”. This retrospective, reported testimony allows the novel to show London’s panic, the road north and the sea while the narrator himself remains elsewhere.
