Paper 2
Revise: The Destruction of SennacheribThe poem is a narrative poem arranged in six quatrains. Each four-line stanza contains two rhyming couplets: the first stanza, for example, pairs ‘fold’ with ‘gold’ and ‘sea’ with ‘Galilee’. The regular pattern makes the story memorable and gives it a strong sense of movement and control.
Component 1
A poem that tells a story through events, characters and a narrative voice.
Revise: Kamikaze‘Kamikaze’ is a narrative poem in free verse: it has no regular metre or rhyme scheme. Its seven six-line stanzas nevertheless create an orderly visual pattern. That pattern may suggest military discipline or the strength of social rules, while the flowing sentences and enjambment move across those boundaries like flight, water and memory.
