Paper 1
Revise: ContextContext means the circumstances that help explain a text and the experiences within it. Here, that includes migration, racism, industrial change and the everyday pressures of childhood. Context is useful when it develops a reading: knowing that Meena’s parents grew up in India, for example, helps explain why their memories of home differ from those of their British-born daughter.
- Revise: Migration and home
The movement of people from one country or region to another to live there.
