The simile ‘Like nature’s patient, sleepless Eremite,’ (line 4) compares it to a hermit, someone withdrawn from human company, often for religious devotion. ‘Patient’ suggests endurance, while ‘sleepless’ makes the star’s unending watchfulness seem demanding as well as impressive.
