Revise: Fossil fuelsIn a steam-based fossil-fuel power station, the fuel is burned to release heat. This heats water in a boiler, producing steam at high temperature and pressure. The steam turns the blades of a turbine, which drives a connected generator.
When choosing a power source from data, compare output, start-up time and any stated costs with the scenario’s requirements. Do not assume the highest output is automatically the best choice.
