Cutting down and removing trees to obtain timber, which can also provide wood for paper pulp.

Logging and paper production can provide employment and income through forestry, transport and manufacturing. These benefits can be important to communities that depend on those industries. In Nigeria, for example, forest industries have contributed to employment and economic development, while forests also support livelihoods by providing food, fuel and materials used in traditional medicine.
