Revise: Geographical Origins of ComponentsAcrylic, high impact polystyrene (HIPS) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) are polymers made using chemical starting materials obtained from crude oil. Crude oil is extracted from underground and refined. Further processing provides small molecules called monomers, which are joined together to form the long molecules of a polymer.
