Paper 1
Revise: Metals and alloysFerrous metals contain iron; non-ferrous metals do not. Low carbon steel, cast iron and high carbon steel are ferrous. Aluminium, copper, tin and zinc are non-ferrous.
Remember that the categories overlap: stainless steel is both an alloy and a ferrous metal.
Do not claim that all ferrous metals rust readily or that non-ferrous metals cannot corrode. Stainless steel is corrosion-resistant, and rust specifically affects iron.
