Revise: Energy Sources and GenerationBiomass is often described as carbon neutral because plants absorb carbon dioxide as they grow and release it when burned. In this simplified balance, replacement growth absorbs the carbon dioxide released by the fuel. This depends on sustainable replacement: burning biomass still releases carbon dioxide, and emissions from processing and transport mean that a renewable biofuel is not automatically carbon neutral overall.
- Revise: Energy Sources
Having no net release of carbon dioxide because releases are balanced by carbon dioxide absorption.
