A transparent or coloured thermoforming polymer with good clarity, weather resistance and a surface that can be polished, but limited toughness.

Revise: Thermoforming PolymersAcrylic, high impact polystyrene and Biopol belong to this category, but they are not interchangeable. A designer must consider how a product will be made, how it should look, what it must withstand and what should happen after use.
A warm, wool-like synthetic fibre used in knitwear, blankets, fake fur and furnishings.
Justify a material choice by linking a property to a product requirement: ‘Acrylic has excellent clarity, so a display cover allows the contents to be seen.’
Distinguish hardness from toughness. Acrylic is relatively hard but has limited toughness: resisting scratches is not the same as resisting impact.
