Revise: The TCP/IP ModelAt this layer, the hosts agree communication settings, such as the size of packets. A packet is a unit of data prepared for transmission. Agreeing settings allows the hosts to communicate in a coordinated way.
Distinguish the transport layer, which sets up communication and agrees settings, from the internet layer, which addresses, packages and routes packets.
When explaining a router, state that it forwards packets between networks, not simply between devices.
Link routing decisions to traffic conditions: routers share information so packets can be directed away from congested areas.

A small unit of data sent across a network, accompanied by control information such as source and destination addresses.
Revise: Structure of the InternetBefore transmission, data is divided into small units called packets. Each packet carries a destination IP address in its header, allowing routers to direct it towards the intended recipient. It also carries a source IP address, identifying where it came from and allowing a response to be addressed back to the sender.
