Revise: Utility System SoftwareThis is fragmentation: the parts of a file are stored in non-contiguous locations, meaning they are not all next to one another. The file is still complete, but reading it requires the HDD’s moving read/write head to access several separate locations. This extra movement increases the time taken to read the file.
