Revise: Viral diseasesViruses reproduce inside living host cells, using those cells to make new virus particles. This can damage or destroy the cells. Different viruses affect different hosts and tissues, so their symptoms and consequences vary.
Distinguish HIV, the virus, from AIDS, the late stage of HIV infection. Explain that damage to immune cells leaves the body unable to deal with other infections or cancers.
