Trundle wheel

For a longer distance, such as an athletics track, a long tape measure or trundle wheel is more practical. Keep a tape straight along the route being measured. A trundle wheel measures the route as its wheel rolls along the ground; it must remain in contact with the ground rather than slipping or being lifted.
