Revise: Particle Motion in GasesPressure is force per unit area. The gas therefore exerts pressure on the container walls because its moving molecules continually strike them. Random motion means molecules strike walls in all directions, not just the bottom of the container.

For a temperature–pressure explanation, link higher temperature → greater average kinetic energy → faster molecules → more frequent collisions with the walls → greater pressure.
