An element’s percentage by mass tells you how much of the compound’s total mass comes from that element.
For percentage by mass, put the element’s total contribution above the compound’s Mᵣ. Your answer must lie between 0% and 100%.
For percentage by mass, include all atoms of the chosen element in the numerator and the whole compound in the denominator.
