Revise: Work Done EquationsFor work done, the important distance is the distance moved along the line of action of the force: the straight line along which that force acts. An upward lifting force does work as an object moves upwards. Moving an object horizontally does not involve work by an upward supporting force, because there is no movement along that force’s line of action.
